Gear

My travels require gear that can stand up to the elements…and continent jumping and live to tell the tale. These are a few of my favorite things.

A POWER STRIP AND EXTENSION CORD WILL MAKE CHARGING A BREEZE
I have found most hotel rooms have minimal outlets making charging multiple devices challenging (think phone, ear pods, camera battery, watch, portable battery pack – see the problem?). Now, add to that the need to use a converter and an adapter when traveling internationally and you’re limited to just one outlet. Bringing a power strip to ensures you can charge multiple devices simultaneously. My favorite charging aid is the Greatness Line travel charging station. While it doesn’t have ALL the international adapters a girl needs (work on that Greatness, would ya?), it gets the job done quite nicely.

FULLY STOCKED FIRST-AID KIT
I like the Welly brand first aid kits but anything is always better than having nothing when you need it. Featuring funky multi-size, multicolor bandages plus most of the other things you’d expect to find in any kit worth its weight in salt. This kit comes loaded with: gauze pads, sterile pads, bandages, anti-itch cream, adhesive bandages in multiple sizes, hand sanitizer, antibiotic ointment, burn relief cream and pain reliever. I added alcohol pads, tweezers, a tiny pair of scissors and a small bottle of tea tree oil (a natural anti-fungal) to mine and I’m good to go.

A PORTABLE BATTERY PACK KEEPS YOUR DEVICES CHARGED (A SOLAR-POWERED ONE IS A GREAT OPTION)
It’s never a good idea to let your phone die while traveling, as anything can happen. A portable charger is a good way to ensure you always have power. The Blavor solar charger power bank keeps me connected consistently.

YOUR FAVE CUP OF “JOE” OR TEA CAN MAKE ANY PLACE FEEL LIKE HOME
I love a good flavorful cup of coffee and, unfortunately, airline coffee service leaves a lot to be desired. If I have a seat outlet, it’s game on with this Beforrm portable tea kettle. The same size as your average water bottle, it can hold 15 ounces of liquid and has four heat settings.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT COFFEE WHILE YOU TRAVEL? YOU NEED ONE OF THESE…
This baby is the total package. The Aeropress Go portable travel coffee press kit is a mini coffee press complete with filters, a scoop, stirrer, cup and lid. Just add coffee and hot water, stir and press. The Beforrm travel kettle I mentioned above will be particularly useful in this instance.

FACING MULTIPLE CLIMATES WHILE TRAVELING? RUMPL’S GOT YOU COVERED.
Recently, someone asked me what was the hardest thing about packing for trips to Africa. After careful consideration, I said, “being mindful to pack light yet having to consider all the different climates you may encounter”. Dealing with changing climates during the day is easy, put on a layer, take off a layer, but nighttime dips can be problematic to put it mildly. This blanket by Rumpl can stave off even the fiercest of winds, keeping you snug as a bug in a rug.

And what’s even better, each blanket is made from 60 recycled plastic bottles and is machine washable. So, you’re helping the planet while looking fab AND staying warm. Win-Win-Win!
